Review: Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
Thoughts:
I forgot how much I missed these characters until I picked this book up. The collection of novellas was the perfect snippet of the characters lives for me to feel like I had all the conclusions I wanted, and for me to get that last look into the world I grew to love so much since picking up the first book 3 years ago.
There isn't much that I can say about this collection of novellas since it would all be considered spoilers, but if you're thinking about picking this up, PLEASE read it after you've finished the rest of the series. This novella collection spoils the rest of the series.
The writing made me feel like I was back home with friends, and I greatly enjoyed getting to spend time with this cast of characters again. Having cried through the last 60 pages of Winter, I wasn't even sure if I had clearly read enough of the ending to know what happened, but apparently my teary vision still allowed me to get the full experience.
I don't think you're missing out on a whole lot if you choose not to read this after finishing the series, but the novellas do give us more background into the character's lives and also wraps up the series with the last novella taking place after the end of Winter. I definitely think it's worth it to pick this up.
This being a collection of novellas, it's really hard to say anything about the characters. I can't spoil anything, which makes it even harder. But I will say that I liked Winter and Jacin more after reading this novella collection.
5 stars. I think it's worth picking up because it's a great way to reunite with the world and the characters without re-reading the entire series again.
