❔: People on covers vs no people on covers?

I totally didn’t realize the top row all had people on the cover while the bottom row didn’t. How nice of past me to arrange them as if it was planned.

Here’s a little secret: Sometimes I open my Lightroom app just to look at photos of these covers because I can’t get over how pretty they all are.

I actually do that quite often with some of my favorite photos ❤️

This is part of my new quest to fill a whole bookshelf with titles from Asian authors. Though at the rate she’s going, I might have a shelf solely for @thechloegong books because her release schedule is crazy!

❔: How many books have you read this month?

I’m currently on my third and wondering if I have the discipline to squeeze in a fourth 🤔 If I’m good about putting away my phone, it could happen.

The end of the month always gets me excited because I get to fill out my reading journal. There are some things I’m ~supposed~ to fill in during the month but quite honestly? I’ve been really behind on starting the year.

These spreads weren’t even drawn until last week so I haven’t started filling them in yet.

Having them finally set up has me excited though. There’s something very pleasant about watching blank spreads slowly fill in with color, pictures, and words over time.

We’re barely a month into the year and I’ve already DNFed one book for confusing me and not grabbing my attention 🤷🏻‍♀️

So glad I started pushing myself to DNF books last year. It really has made me a happier reader.

❔: What was your last 5 star read?

I finished A Magic Steeped in Poison yesterday afternoon and absolutely loved it! Everything about this book reminds me why I enjoy fantasy books. The balance of magic, worldbuilding, political intrigue, food, tension, and romance was *chef’s kiss*

Of the many, many things to love about the book, one of the things I loved most was how it represented my culture. The use of pinyin, mixing in Chinese characters when fitting, the herbal medicines so many of us grew up knowing and drinking, and of course, all the food. It made me want to brush up on my Chinese reading skills after having lost so much of it over the years.

I can’t wait to dive into the sequel and you can bet that I’m shifting around my TBR to make that happen!

Here’s a look at some of the most recent goodies I got from @fictionbathco!

I’m kind of always getting stuff from them so it should never really be a surprise, but I just couldn’t pass up these perfumes and room sprays during one of their previous sales!

Maybe one day I’ll do a Reel taking you guys through my whole collection but in the meantime, we can just enjoy the gorgeous packaging of these items 😍

❔: What genre is your current read?

I’m currently reading fantasy and having so much fun being back in the genre. It’s been awhile since I’ve picked up a fantasy but I’m loving learning new magic systems, discovering new worlds, and reading about all the food.

Of course, it’s an added bonus to be reading from an Asian author during Lunar New Year too.

I’m really hoping to finish this up tonight so I can keep up with my reading schedule. Already starting to think of February’s TBR, which feels weird to say.

Didn’t January just begin?
